He Is

We believe the Lord to be our Creator and Redeemer, who else does He declare Himself to be in the Word?

Preacher to the poor, Healer of broken hearted, Liberator of captives, Proclaimer of things to come, Comforter, and One who makes beautiful things out of ashes.

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified."

Isaiah 61:1-3

Father to the fatherless, defender of widows, Holy, Unifier, Just.

A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

Psalm 68:5-6

Forgiving, Father.

Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty."

2 Corinthians 6:17-18

Everlasting, Creator, Limitless, One who has unsearchable understanding, Empowering, One who loves.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Isaiah 40:28-31

Healer of the brokenhearted, Counter of the stars, Great, Mighty, Powerful, Infinite in understanding, One who raises the humble and is just.

He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. The LORD lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground.

Psalm 147:3-6

Our strength and Redeemer, whose law is perfect and soul converting, whose testimony is sure and makes the simple wise, whose statutes are right and cause our hearts to rejoice, whose commandment is pure and enlightens our eyes, whose judgments are true and righteous.

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. ... Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:7-9, 14

Restorer of our souls, One who makes us righteous to bring Himself glory.

He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake.

Head of the church and Savior

Isaiah 43:11

The only Savior and God, just and righteous.

Tell and bring forth your case; Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides Me, A just God and a Savior; There is none besides Me.

Isaiah 45:21

Our Judge and Mediator

But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.

Hebrews 12:22-24

Faithful, Just, Cleansing, and righteous.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

Our High Priest, who understands and sympathizes with our weakness, who is compassionate and merciful, full of grace.

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 4:14-16

There is so much more to who He is, this is just a starting point. As our understanding of the Trinity widens we see how God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is seeking and establishing relationship with us. His word declares Him to be these things, and more, we need to seek out understanding. I would encourage you to read through Psalm 145, in those verses so much is declared of Him and our relationship with Him, in verse 18 we are told "The LORD is near to all who call upon Him,To all who call upon Him in truth".

"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."
